Youssef Benbrahim is a singer/songwriter in the group Lotus Eyes. Over the years he has been practicing Bhakti (devotional) yoga and spreading the sacred sound vibrations that our hearts so desperately desire. Bringing this philosophy to conscious festivals all across the south east, he hopes to promote the highest reality: LOVE. When we water the source, every living being can benefit from this connection.
Changing the Ecology of the Heart through Kirtan (Ecstatic musical mantra meditation)
The practice of Bhakti Yoga, or devotional love, stems from the ancient wisdom texts called the Vedas. The Vedic texts give detailed descriptions of topics such as astrology, meditation, the yoga systems, Ayurveda (ancient natural health), and answer virtually every philosophical question one could propose. Through the practice of these processes we can re-awaken our original nature and achieve our highest potential via balance of mind, body and soul. Bhakti Yoga helps us to uncover the heart by cleaning the mirror of the mind (which is cluttered with jealousy, selfishness and materialistic tendencies). This practice is non-sectarian which means people from any spiritual background or lack thereof can participate and benefit from the timeless wisdom and joy it brings.
Kirtan: An Estatic Mantra Meditation
Kirtan is a fun and easy method of meditation using Sanskrit chants (ancient Vedic language) and instruments of all varieties. Using these sacred sound vibrations, we evoke the presence of the Divine and call to end our selfish tendencies. We will address the problems facing our world and our growth as individuals. Through this workshop, we will unify and find solutions to the problems facing our communities by focusing on changing the ecology of our hearts. Come dance, connect with others and sing your heart out – or just learn about a timeless and enlivening way of life!
